I have a Hauppauge tv tuner card that used to work fine using the bttv driver. After upgrading to 2.6.16 it doesn't work at all. /dev/video0 does not exist and the bttv driver only outputs "bttv: driver version 0.9.16 loaded
bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture" into dmesg.
Curiously, dmesg shows it as being an unknown device now, and I could have sworn it was previously recognized as a bt878.

Well, forget about it. I had to install it in a windows box because of time. My gentoo install has gotten to the point where it's holding me back, and, judging by my recent experiences with gentoo, that is not going to change. time to look for a different flavor of Linux. I think I'll install Debian when I get back. _________________ Maintaining documentation on upgrades is apparently not within the power of Gentoo

Also, for those of you who have the same problem, it looks like the issue was it not showing up properly in dmesg. The bttv driver uses dmesg to know which model of card it's talking to. As the card was not recognized, bttv didn't know which card it was supposed to talk to and didn't load. That's as far as I got. _________________ Maintaining documentation on upgrades is apparently not within the power of Gentoo
