|
|
Hey, I emerged kiba-dock from the xeffects overlay. I think the ebuild is lacking a dependency for pygtk and gconf-editor. When I run kiba-dock, nothing happens. When I run akamaru, many of the animations cause segfaults. When I run any of the python files that came with kiba, they all complain about either pygtk, or, after I installed pygtk, gconf missing, even though gconf is installed.
The maintainers of the ebuild should add pygtk and gconf-editor as deps. |

Can you submit a bug to our bug tracker: http://bugs.gentoo-xeffects.org . I need to see what's going on with kiba-dock and do some real ebuild cleanups on it. I kind of took over the maintainership of it, and it's the least on my priority list until now.
Thanks. |

Installing pygtk cleared up the pygtk deps, but installing gconf-editor didn't clear up the gconf deps...
Code: |
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/kiba-icon-editor.py", line 14, in ?
import gconf
ImportError: No module named gconf

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/kiba-systray.py", line 8, in ?
import gtk, gobject, sys, gconf
ImportError: No module named gconf

Strange. Oh well, I'll file that bug report tomorrow, though... |

Try emerge -1 gnome-python and see if it works. |

kiba-dock is not even in the overlay anymore. Is this intentional? |

Yes, the ebuilds are in such bad shape, I removed them. They'll be back sometime this week. |

I did some of the early work on the ebuilds, but due a system upgrade (about a month ago) and some extreme lack of time for non work related stuff I only recently managed to find the time to get X working on my new system (Had some font problems and an IRQ sharing issue)
Once I get a chance I'd be happy to do some more work on the ebuild if nesl247 doesn't beat me to it, but It may take some time to figure out what needs to be changed as I have been out of the dev loop on all things XGL/compiz/beryl and kiba-dock since I upgraded my system _________________ Admiral Trigger Happy

I don't know what's going on with kiba dock. The version from a few months ago looked very mature and stable. The latest git version looks like going back 3 years in development. It looks like the guy decided to start a rebuild from scratch? X-effects ebuild is gone. I don't get it: why can't we have the good-old-working-kiba dock? Now, against my will, I'm back at ksmoothdock, but not without some nostalgy |

where is the git overlay?
The cvs on metascape is still up so the 9999 ebuild that I started and some other people get up with still emerges, but some of the deps aren't listed in the ebuild, ie pygtk _________________ Admiral Trigger Happy

I've grabed it from here
Edit: someone in this thread pointed out that the git version is outdated with respect to the cvs version. Maybe this is the problem. I will try cvs |
