I am getting this error:

cant use interactive and >> because you cant present a list to /etc/make.conf the list wants to go to the console/terminal.
just
Code: | mirrorselect -D -s4 |
and it will put the 4 fastest servers in make.conf for you.
or if you really want interactive leave off the >> /etc/make.conf |

Bruahaha, I have (had) the same issue, but its browsing through mirrors now. Looks like its going to take a while but it also looks like it's going to work.
