any print job i do via kde (so e.g. openoffice is not affected) is printed as it should be, but the printer prints a ceratin page before with a big headline "Classified", the cups logo, the easy software products logo, job id, job title, requesting user and billing info.... how can i turn that off ? it's really annoying ! thanks

Go into the CUPS web administration http://localhost:631/, go to Printers, click on Printer Options and scroll down until you come to a box called "Banners". Change "Starting Banner" to "None".

Caution: this is copied from a CUPS 1.2.7 installation, if you are running 1.1.23-r8, it might not be quite the same.
