Well Digikam is a great one for KDE and F-Spot is a pretty good Gnome one. Google also just released Picasa for Linux which doesn't integrate as nicely as the others but it is very polished. I think there is another photo manager for Gnome but I can't remember its name. |

DigiKam is great indeed. Have a look at their website, it contains tons of info and screenshots. |

I'm looking around for a Photo manager too.
It should work very simple, because the enduser is a n00b
The features I'm looking for are:
* The abilaty to make shortcuts to folders that contain the photo's.
* No importing of photo's! Just browsing through folders, with thumbnails.
* Some basic editing of photo's. Rotation, making 'm black&white, cropping, etc.
* Renaming and deleting of the photo's.
* It would be very nice if it's a Gnome app.
* Localised (translated).
I tried several apps, like f-spot, gthumb and GQView.
The first 2 work way to complex. They want to import photo's into catogories, etc.
GQView lacks the links to folders and some Photo editing.
I hope there is some app like that out there. _________________ If there is one thing to learn from history, it's that we usualy don't learn anything from it, at all. |
