Hi all,
I have a strange problem with my DVD burner (SONY DVD RW DRU-710A). When I burn a DVD with latest k3b, the same burner can't read this DVD afterwards. k3b gives no error, but when I try to mount the disc I get a "no disc" error. The same goes with k3b itself, when I try to see "discinfo".
The drive is able to read original CDs and DVDs, it can read burned CDs and DVDs from other people, so this error only occurs with discs burned with this very device. When I try to read the disc under Windows XP (dual boot), it can't read it either.
Any ideas? I googled for this problem, but found no real solution so far. Only thing was to update firmware, which I have done. But that did not solve my problem.
Thanks in advance for every hint!
Best regards, Matthias |

haimat,
Since you have Windows, have a look at one of your own burned DVDs with ISObuster. Its a free Windows app.
Its supposed to work under WINE too but I can't get it to go.
Do your own burned DVDs appear blank to other writers ... The killer test is if you can write over the top of one of your 'written' DVDs and read back anythis at all anywhere. That would confirm that your drive is not actually putting data on the DVDs. Use one shot media for this test. _________________ Regards,
