Hello there, I'm current facing this problem with Gaim-2.0.0beta5 (both -r1 and r2): as soon as I attempt to click the buddy icon either in the main window or the "Edit Account" window, it immediately segfaults with the stacktrace below.

Currently I'm using:
- Gaim 2.0.0_beta5
- GCC 4.1.1
- Mono 1.2.2.1

Debug output:
Code:

Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code. This usually indicates
a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries
used by your application.

Aborted (core dumped)

As a sidenote, Gaim also shows me there's a Segmentation fault upon quitting Gaim, however no debug output is shown even using "gaim -d".

Does anyone knows what's going wrong with this?

I have the same problem (with the same configuration), no idea why.

However, when running gaim as root, it doesn't segfault!

Here is the gaim debug output when selecting the buddy icon while running as root:

Code:

Session Management: No SESSION_MANAGER found, aborting.
docklet: embedded

(gaim:13776): gnome-vfs-modules-WARNING **: Could not initialize inotify

Any ideas anyone?

Same crash here, gaim dies when clicking that photo box on the buddy list.

I don't get that inotify error... but if that's what's causing it, I don't have any /dev/inotify even though it's enabled in the kernel. Could this be what's wrong?

Hmmm, it seems to be a problem with dbus versions.

See:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1597781&group_id=235&atid=100235

Everything works fine if I emerge with USE="-dbus"

That worked for me as well.
