I've been finding these in my syslog from the DHCPD process and really doesnt know what it means/is/should do about it.
Dec 25 22:18:03 server dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:14:a5:40:f1:a6 via eth0
Dec 25 22:18:03 server dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 10.0.2.100 to 00:14:a5:40:f1:a6 (Charlotte) via eth0
Dec 25 22:18:04 server dhcpd: if Charlotte.localhost IN A rrset doesn't exist add Charlotte.localhost 1800 IN A 10.0.2.100: connection refused.
Dec 25 22:18:04 server dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.0.2.100 (10.0.2.1) from 00:14:a5:40:f1:a6 (Charlotte) via eth0
Dec 25 22:18:04 server dhcpd: DHCPACK on 10.0.2.100 to 00:14:a5:40:f1:a6 (Charlotte) via eth0
Im wondering about this line:
"Dec 25 22:18:04 server dhcpd: if Charlotte.localhost IN A rrset doesn't exist add Charlotte.localhost 1800 IN A 10.0.2.100: connection refused."
The machine "charlotte" is a laptop connecting through a wifi accesspoint, donnu if that has anything to do with it.
I dont get any other of those messages for the other computers in my LAN that requests ip-addresses from the DHCP server
Thanks |

I believe "IN A" refers to "Internet address" as used by BIND. Perhaps your DHCP server attempts to update Charlotte.localhost's IP address with the DNS server and fails? |
