I'm gonna guess that you've got /etc/init.d/net.eth0 as a file rather than a symlink to net.lo |

i have the baselayout installed which you consider stops network.
my network is ok and eth0 works fine.
a revdep-rebuild is suggested. may solve other problems if any.
probably you did not complete the full emerge -Du system or world. _________________ reach out a little bit more to catch it (DON'T BELIEVE the advocate part under my user name) |

after the upgrade, did you run etc-update or your config file updater of your choice? |
