Aironet card in Master mode (need to create an AP)

Hi everyone,

I recently acquired a Cisco aironet pcmcia card. Out of morbid curiosity, I attempted to set it to master mode. Iwconfig claims that the card is in master mode, but I still cannot connect. Should I be able to, and how can I connect to this card while it is in master mode?

The card is an air-pcm350 series.
