I want a audio player that integrates nicely with gome (or looks like it does), that can play mp3,ogg,flac, unintrusive, doesn't take up much space on screen (as rhythmbox does), doesn't chock everytime I scroll my playlist (audacious) doesn't require kde (amarok), handles UTF8 filenames and can display japanese titles correctly (and any other language titles), and doesn't have system requierments similar to Windows Vista.

So what are my options?

try mpd, not sure it does everything you ask (don't know how well it handles UTF-8 ), it's very nice, doesn't use a lot of resources.
Since it's a deamon you'll have to try which UI suits you best though. I personally use mpc (bound to keys) with my entire music collection put on random.
I also use the gkrellm plugin for seeing what song is playing. If you want a gui to manage playlist there are options available as well; i haven't used any (at least not much; I've used pympd for a little while but it had some issues).
(The website can be found at www.musicpd.org i believe; there's also an excellent page on the gentoo wiki about it).

If you have considered amarok try quodlibet :) It simply ROCKS ...
I use it for my music collection and it fits my every need.
But if it's too ressource consuming for you or to big or you just don't like it, I also would recommend mpd. As a GUI try out Gmpc. I should integrate nicely with gnome.

Thanks, I'll give gmpc a go, looks nice enough. About quodlibet, had ha hard time finding it in google and finally found a link in freshmeat but no screenies -.-;

Headrush, I've looked at some of them and they all said that either try audacious/amarok or bmpx (which is masked, or was last time I checked). That's why I asked.

Quod Libet does not support Gentoo Linux. Any bug reports from a Gentoo system will be closed immediately as invalid. If you are running Gentoo and experience problems, file a bug on the Gentoo bug tracking system at bugs.gentoo.org.

If you are referring to the sound skipping, either turn of tag loading on display, or increase the buffer size. I play stuff off my server, so I increased the buffer to 12 seconds, now when I scroll the playlist it doesn't choke and skip.

This happens on occasion, usually for 2 cases.

Either we botched a release and they got a lot of complaints about it (which would be our fault)
or a bunch of users with horrible CFLAGS/LDFLAGS/OTHERSTUFFYOUSHOULDN'TSET filed bugs on their trac.

This tends to piss off upstream ;)

That was an old war between the quodlibet guys and us. I stated my point at the time but there's no need to wash old stuff again.
Quodlibet is safe to run using the portage tree.
