Ok first off i'll say that i am a newbie.
My problem is simply the fact that i can't get my sound to work on my gentoo box. My motherboard is the Msi KT3ultra -> http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=341&MODEL=MS-6380E.
I know very little about loading modules....i have tried on many occasion to load modules, thing is...how do i know whic modules to load. Is there a way for me to load my modules without coming online to find the module name?

Ok, you need to know your hardware before you know what modules to load. What type of sound card are you using? I suppose you are using alsa sound architecture. If you find out what sound card you are using, you can check out the howto at the alsa site about the supported sound cards, what the modules are, and how to configure them properlly. This procedure holds for *almost* any hardware you'll like to configure.

Hope this helps,
