Hi,

I am new to gentoo and currently looking for a chinese pinyin IME. I was previously using MS Pinyin IME in windows xp which I am most comfortable with. Is there something similar to that? and what do you guys recommend in Gentoo?

Also, there is a problem with webpage displaying chinese characters. I've already set the character encoding to UTF-8 and the chinese characters are viewable except the characters are not all the same size. I am using mozilla-firefox and have the default font size set to 18 but every other characters are either bigger or smaller.

One last problem. Is there a way to make mozilla-firefox display the list of bittorent files in bt1.btchina.net ?

1. scim-pinyin
2. you have to specify fonts sequence in your ~/.fonts.conf.
3. you may try madfox. btchina uses a M$ specific technique, which is not widely used in open source world. the creator of madfox have made a patch which could make firefox support that technique, and submit it to firefox's upstream. However unfortunately it was rejected.

Hi,

I installed scim-pinyin but need some help on how to use it. I can't figure out how to switch to chinese input method. In SCIM setup, I see Mode switch: Alt+Shift_L+KeyRelease, Shift+Shift_R+KeyRelease but I don't know what is KeyRelease.

Also, I can't find ~/.fonts.conf.[/list]

'KeyRelease' means press a key, then release it, the command take action after you release the switch key. eg. "Alt+Shift_L+KeyRelease" means press the "Alt+Shift_L" then release it.

you may read this: Scim安装指南,有安装的问题可以参照此帖~ .
