im working on a gentoo server with my laptop and its gentoo, i had a virtual interface for the lan1 in the server that is connected to the internet and eth0 that is connected to the LAN. the ip addresses was as follow
(In the server ofcourse)
eth1 192.168.1.1
eth0 192.168.3.1
virtual interface(i forgot it is name) 192.168.4.1

so yesterday i changed the ip addresses of the server in the /etc/conf.d/net as following
ifconfig_eth1=( "192.168.55.106 netmask 255.255.255.0")
gateway="eth1/192.168.55.1"
ifconfig_eth0=( "192.168.2.1 netmask 255.255.255.20")

so after i did this i cannot dhcpcd to the server from my laptop although my server have internet ofcourse. then when i checked the ip addresses in the server i found that the virtual interface is disapeared. i have returned the old value and even this i lost the virtual interface and i still cannot dhcpcd to the server.????/

few things,

first with a subject like this one, you will probably get little help as it will not return any its on search engine, I mean, if I am looking on gentoo forums, I look for network issues, apache server..... not "help me please" if I was not curious, I will not open your post. (I don't mean to be negative, I just tell you what I think)

second, your network description does not make sense, you use for internet a 192 class C address, I am pretty sure that ISP do not give address in 192, as it is for private network

so the only think I can propose you it to follow the Gentoo guide for home network, it has everything you might want, setup the network of your server, the dhcpcd, the clients... even open the port for ssh, torrent and other
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/home-router-howto.xml

this is the one I followed when I set up my system, one gentoo acting as server/workstation, DNS, web server, email server, dhcp server and router, plus 2 workstations (one laptop gentoo, one desktop windows) on a intranet, browsing internet and even connecting to my work place with VPN

sorry I cannot help you on your specific problem but like I said, I believe you made mistake in your explaination so I propose you to start fresh :-)
