|
|
Hi,
I've just upgraded from 2.6.18-r1 to 2.6.19-r3 because I hoped that my issues with WPA2/NetworkManager would be solved with this update. NM was unable to connect to my WPA2/CCMP-encrypted network at home as well as somewhere else with 2.6.18-r1, i could however get connected to an TKIP-encrypted network and unencrypted ones.
After upgrading, I got various errors concerning ieee80211 and ipw2100. Now I have ipw2100 compiled as Module (from the kernel) and unmerged the ieee80211 and ipw2100 ebuilds.
NM sees all wireless networks, so the firmware and stuff seems to work, but I can't even connect to an unencrypted network anymore
the dmesg output concerning wireless: Code: | ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'

I wanted to try the wireless with portage-ipw2100 and ieee80211, but ran into the same compile error as in this thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-3796104.html#3796104
then I've just re-emerged the kernel, unmerged ieee80211 and ipw2100 and recompiled the kernel with exactly the same config as phreak_ suggests in the other thread.
but nothing has changed, my wireless can still see all networks but always fails to authenticate (I'm now trying wpa_supplicant manually most of the time).
anyone any ideas? i need the ability to connect to (at least unencrypted) wireless at university |

whohoo, something's workin, but i can't figure out why or how:
NetworkManager is working, but shows the "no connection" icon. If I use wpa_supplicant, it cant establish a connection to any accesspoint. but I've just typed in iwconfig and this tells me, that I'm connected to belkin54g, thus the unencrypted AP. with dhclient eth1 I can get an IP too.
so, it seems that there is a way, but I really don't know why neither wpa_supplicant nor NM work
besides that, i do also wanna be able to connect to my encrypted AP at home (other people with centrino duo notebooks can connect). |
