Dear E17-users !
I just updated (emerge --sync) the portage tree, and now, I can't see the e ebuilds.
Moreover, it disappears from the packages :
http://packages.gentoo.org/packages/?category=x11-wm
Did I miss something ?
I was so simple to update e that I can believe someone delete all e ebuilds.

Go here, all is explained
PS, just make sure your /etc/portage/package.keywords is a directory, NOT a file.
i.e. Quote: | Portage now will read all the contents of those /etc/portage/package.* files. If they are normal files the thing works as always, if they are dirs, then all the files into each dir is read, that let you organize it a bit more. For example, you could have a dir called /etc/portage/package.keywords/ and into it you could have many files to unmask different stuff, like a file called "kde" for all the kde packages, another one called "kernels", another one called "beryl" and so on. |

I read (very fast I assume) and I didn't see the reply of yesterday.
I can't believe that thing. But in fact, I didn't know overlay.gentoo.org.
No matter, Thanks for your replies. _________________ With Gentoo since 2002... |

Sorry to nag, but I still haven't solved this. (And I really, really want to switch back to entrance from kdm.)
As reported a couple of times earlier, entrance hangs on me, after a (automatic) screen poweroff.
This does not occur with a simple "blackened" screen, only when it's actually been turned off.
It's as if 1) entrance stops refreshing after it notices screen is off and 2) doesn't notice it being turned on again, thus not continuing to refresh the screen. ---If the problem is something like that, does the problem lie with entrance or X? (Note: this only happens with entrance, not with ex kdm.)
Some lines from entrance_edit: Code: | Entrance Daemon Settings
attempts = 2
xserver = "/usr/X11R6/bin/X vt7"
Entrance Client Settings
xsession = "/etc/X11/xdm/Xsession"
auth = 1
engine = 0
reboot = 1
halt = 1
theme = "default.edj" |
Note: initially, the xserver setting was set to "/usr/X11R6/bin/X -quiet -nolisten tcp vt7"; I changed it just to check if that would make a difference. It didn't.
Might some other xserver setting do the trick? If so, which?
Resuming from "turned off screen" works fine in e itself. This problem only occurs with entrance. |

For the past few days, I haven't been able to get a single package from the overlay to merge correctly; they all come out like this:
Code: |
>>> Emerging (1 of 1) dev-libs/eet-9999 to /
* checking ebuild checksums ;-) ... [ ok ]
* checking auxfile checksums ;-) ... [ ok ]
* checking miscfile checksums ;-) ... [ ok ]
* This is a LIVE CVS ebuild.
* That means there are NO promises it will work.
* If it fails to build, FIX THE CODE YOURSELF
* before reporting any issues.
>>> Unpacking source...
* Fetching CVS module e17/libs/eet into /usr/portage/distfiles/cvs-src ...
* Running cvs -q -f -z1 -d ":pserver:anonymous:@anoncvs.enlightenment.org:/var/cvs/e" login
Logging in to :pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.enlightenment.org:2401/var/cvs/e
* Running cvs -q -f -z1 -d ":pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.enlightenment.org:/var/cvs/e" update -dP e17/libs/eet

tl;dr version:
Code: |
cvs update: ignoring e17/libs/eet (CVS/Repository missing)
cvs [update aborted]: no such directory `e17/libs'
|
I'm assuming that either e's CVS is down, moved, or inaccessible. This is with the latest revision (47) of the overlay. Anyone else getting this? _________________

Actually, what happens is that entrace does not update its gui. However, if you happen to type your login name and password (or only password if login name is already entered), then you will immediately log in to the last DE/WM that you used. |

Yes. And the buttons work, too. As you said, it's just the gui that doesn't get updated.
(If it'd just be me at the computer, I'd manage. But I'm not, and they won't. ) |

I've been trying to update my e17 build, but when I follow the instructions for installing from the overlay, it wants to downgrade me to e16:
Code: |
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild UD] x11-wm/e-0.16.999.037 [9999] USE="nls pam%* -doc" 31,109 kB [1]
Total: 1 package (1 downgrade), Size of downloads: 31,109 kB
Portage overlays:
[1] /usr/portage/local/layman/enlightenment
[2] /usr/local/portage
|
Is this just a change in naming, or did I miss something about installing e17?
[edit]
Sorry, my bad. I used the snapshot as opposed to the livecvs. |

Running layman -fa enlightenment
I get
Code: | * Running command "/usr/bin/svn co http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/dev/vapier/enlightenment/ /usr/portage/local/layman/enlightenment"...
svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/svn/dev/vapier/enlightenment'
svn: PROPFIND of '/svn/dev/vapier/enlightenment': could not connect to server (http://overlays.gentoo.org)
* Failed to add overlay "enlightenment". |
What am I doing wrong? I have never used layman before. I have checked internet, and the site it is looking for is accessible (well by firefox at least). |

Is there a way to make conky transparent? I searched all 5 topic and found nothing about this.
I can start conky in his own window but that is not what I want and in some screenshots I saw conky transparent in E17. |

Relevant options in your conkyrc are:
Code: | own_window yes
own_window_transparent yes |
Problem is that Conky will use fake transparency (it redraws your desktop background as its own background) and since e17 does not handle its backgrounds as other WM, you have to set your background using e17setroot (in the e_utils package) (which requires the Esetroot binary from the eterm package). |

just remember when edje_thumb got taken out of the main build tree it broke e17setroot for use with edj files, so you need to run e17setroot -<option> normal.image to set the default dr17 wallpaper and fake trans pixmap |
