|
|
Hey guys. I'm trying to run WoW (in Wine) and Audacious simultaenously but the programs do not seem to like sharing my sound card. I am using ALSA built into the kernel and have an NForce 3 (AC' 97) card built-in to my motherboard.
I was looking through the forums and didn't see any workarounds.

Most AC97 cards do not have a hardware mixer, and thus require dmix. |

I'm sorry, dmix? I don't seem to be finding this package anywhere. Maybe you're taling about a type of package, but I'm still trying to learn some terminology of the forums.

Dmix is a software mixer that allows you mix multiple streams when your hardware does not have the capability to do so on its own. As far as I know you don't need to emerge anything, it's part of alsa, but it may need to be configured. Here's the Gentoo Guide, the dmix how-to is not quite halfway down the page. |
