I need to use menuconfig to configure my south bridge to find my hard drive. The mobo uses a 875P chipset (MCH + 6300ESB + FWH)

Here is the specs / picture:
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/P4/875/P4SCT.cfm

I'm not hooking up the Sata chip yet.... just a IDE/ATA drive on the southbridge.

I've been using genkernel to make the chipset work but I'd rather use menuconfig to lean down the kernel a bit.

Not right now. The system is not put together yet. If you could wait until the 4th it will be together then.

What would I be looking for in lspci?

chipset names, of course. lspci displays all of the info about your hardware and, hopefully, gives you enough info to find what you're looking for in your kernel config.

For instance, my lspci looks like this:
Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 440BX/ZX/DX - 82443BX/ZX/DX Host bridge (rev 03)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 440BX/ZX/DX - 82443BX/ZX/DX AGP bridge (rev 03)
00:02.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1450 (rev 03)
00:02.1 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1450 (rev 03)
00:03.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82557/8/9 [Ethernet Pro 100] (rev 09)
00:03.1 Serial controller: Xircom Mini-PCI V.90 56k Modem
00:05.0 Multimedia audio controller: Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24/30 [CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio Accelerator] (rev 01)
00:07.0 Bridge: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ISA (rev 02)
00:07.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 IDE (rev 01)
00:07.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB (rev 01)
00:07.3 Bridge: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ACPI (rev 03)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. 86C270-294 Savage/IX-MV (rev 13)
06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Xircom Cardbus Ethernet 10/100 (rev 03)

Sorry, about that I should've been more clear about what lspci was for. Once you get your system post the output of lspci and lsmod just to be safe and we should be able to put together a kernel pretty quickly.

I was hoping that their website would have enough information for me to find out, but its a hit and miss with motherboard manufacturer websites.

PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82875P/E7210 Processor to PCI to CSA Bridge

PCI bridge: Intel Corp 6300ESB 64 bit PCI-X Bridge rev 02

IDE Interface: Intel Corp. 6300ESB PATA Storage Controller rev 02

Alright, it should be under Device Drivers --> ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL support --> Intel PIIXn chipsets support.

Make sure that you include it <Y> and not modularize it <M>.
