I have emerged cdemu 0.8 but am unable to load the cdemu kernel module cdemu.ko. All I get is this error saying it can't find the module. I even tried giving it the direct location at /lib64/modules/2.6.19-gentoo-r2/misc/cdemu.ko and it still told me it could not be found! Any ideas on what is going on? |

Yes the file exists. emerge throws it into /lib64/modules/2.6.19-gentoo-r2/misc/ and I've even downloaded the source and compiled it myself and copied it over but I still can't get it to be seen... |

Seems to me that the cdemu 0.8 ebuild is deprecated because it just flat out doesn't work! I ran modules-update like you suggested and then tried to modprobe cdem but with no success. I also tried insmod on the module as suggested but only got:
Code: |
insmod: error inserting 'lib64/modules/2.6.19-gentoo-r2/misc/cdemu.ko': -1 Unknown symbol in module

It sounds like this problem - use the sed command from my ebuild. |
