Since my upgrade to current stable xorg-1.5.3 my old serial mouse is not working any more.
Fortunately, I also had an old ps/2 mouse spared which works (at least most of the time). However, I would still like to use my serial mouse.
So, here's my questition has anyone gotten a serial mouse running together with our new hal (evdev?) and xorg stuff? |

in the ages of wireless mice you still got a serial one? crass ;p
there are several policies for many devices.. did you have a look at them?
But if you compiled xorg-server the default manor it uses hal to guess the hardware.
I wonder if a serial device could by plug&play'ed ![Confused :?](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) |

Lots of my hardware is rather ancient
I played around a lot with the examples provided along with hal which was upgraded along with xorg-1.5. No luck.
I am just curious if anybody experienced a similar problem (and solved it ). |

Is that mouse listed in hal ? (paste its properties)
Do its properties match ones in fdi files ?
Does xinput see that mouse (or, at very least, does it show in xorg log) ? |

No, it is not listed by hal. Only my serial ports are listed.
Do I have to enter its properties in my fdi files before? If so, how do I know which properties exist and what to enter?
It does not show up in Xorg's log. |
