gentoo 2006 amd64, can't detect my usb external modem.
i wish that oneday i can connect internet with gentoo, but it seem imposible
aztech external 56k usb modem. ( |

I used a usb modem for all of 2006. It's possible. You do need the compile a driver for the usb modem cable though. device-driver->usb-support-> usb modem (CDC AMC) support
My ISP provider also gave me a couple of special hayes strings to send to the modem.
