i am using fluxbox and i set my background image with bsetbg -c, to center the image on the screen. it has been working fine up to know, i know because the image has that digital blasphemy.com url at the bottom, and it didn't show up. i turned my computer on today, and there was the digital blasphemy url. i went into ~/.fluxbox/init and bsetbg -c was still there, no one changed or did anything to it. i tried taking the -c out, and adding in other options, all other options, but nothing worked. this is really weird, it just stopped working. does anyone have any idea whats going on. thanks

bsetbg uses programs like Esetroot and wmsetbg todisplay the image, so maybe you removed a program it was using? try issuing the command from an xterm or something a looking at the output.

mmm...I never liked bsetbg (would never scale the images properly). I was probably doing something wrong but still :)

Anyhoo, why not give qiv a try ?
Code:

emerge -s qiv

I used that to set my backgrounds without any hassle and it could do centering / scaling without any problems.

Just my 0.02c worth :)

i did bsetbg in an xterm window, and it didn't show any output whatsoever, but it changed the background, it just didn't scale it properly. i am going to give qiv a try and see how that works out. thanks.

Probably was a typo or problem with your .fluxbox/init if it worked when run manually.
