Hello there,
I compiled the lates stable mplayer with all kinds of support, "dvd, dvdread, sdl, ac3, X, xv, etc", yet I can't playbackl my DVDs, with vlc player it works though!
When I try to start a dvd with mplayer I get

I marked the errors. I do have the lates libdvdread though (1.2.9) and as I said with vlc it works, then again I am not sure what vlc uses to playback the dvds.
Any hints?

yes, because of the useflag "dvdread" it was pulled in by the mplayer package, I think.
Anyhow, it is there. I wonder why vlc works, it always works, maybe I should stick to it, yet I liked mplayer _________________ The Creature from Jekyll Island. |

It might have one of the new encryption schemes that libdvdcss can't crack. Have you tried a few different dvd's? |
