When i try to modprobe the nvidia driver i get this. ideas?

You might try re-emerging the nvidia driver.. nvidia-kernel that is.

Sounds like you've switched prempt on and off within your tree.
This should fix it (example assumes gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r5 mod if using a different kernel - i'd upgrade from r2...):
save your .config!!!!
rm -rf /usr/src/linux-2.4.20-gentoo-r5/
rm -rf /lib/modules/2.4.20-gentoo-r5/
emerge gentoo-sources
make oldconfig
make dep && make clean && make bzImage modules modules_install
put ${KV}/arch/i386/boot/bzImage in /boot (make sure /boot is mounted)
reboot to ensure all is ok...
remerge the nvidia stuff
You should be set. |

You forgot to re-run your bootloader of choice |
