dunno if i'm the only one experiencing this but a while ago after changing my kernel to 2.4.20-win4lin from 2.4.19-vanilla i experienced beeps during sound playback that would occur seemingly random and for randomly long times (0.3-3 seconds) dureing which the whole system stopped responding...
i downgraded to 2.4.19 and now it works again... (it took a while to figure out that it was the kernel, i thought it was the new alsa-driver i had installed)
i hope this helps someone... _________________ --

I had lots of wierd problems using gentoo-sources and vanilla with certain kernel patches messing up my sound using the emu10k1-audigy drivers.
Atm I use 2.4.20 vanilla and no problems. The only reason I would have to go with a kernel other than vanilla is to get a more responsive desktop or smoother games. The trouble is that with past experiences I don't trust anything except vanilla. |
