|
|
Hi there!
I just managed to boot a dual processor octane with a self-compiled kernel and set up apache and mysql-4 on it. However the final goal is to have a full LAMP system running on mips. Is there a chance to get php keyworded? And eventually even mysql? I'm not a developer but I would help testing it.

Keyword it yourself, test it and then when you're satisfied it actually works, file a bug on bugs.gentoo.org requesting keywording for mips. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

I have just closed bug #123844 as WONTFIX, since we're currently totally unable to support a package like PHP. |

Naturally, if you want to help us maintain things like PHP and MySQL on MIPS... then we're more than happy to look into recruiting you... but being such a small team, and such slow systems, it's not possible for us to tackle all of PHP ourselves. _________________ Stuart Longland (a.k.a Redhatter, VK4MSL)

OK, I understand this point. Unfortunately I don't have the resources (mainly time) available for becoming a developer. Nevertheless I keyworded the necessary ebuilds and emerged them (as nixnut proposed). The good message is: So far all went fine. I plan to test the installation next week (I don't have direct web access to my sgi(s) from here).

Good idea, and as Redhatter said, we're a small team on an experimental architecture.
Feel free to poke us on IRC anytime and ask if we're going to have a look at PHP sometime -- I just doubt it'll be in the nearest future.
Best regards,
