Hey all,
I'm playing with framebuffer to see if I can get decent video performance.
I've got vesafb installed and can boot into a graphic 1024x768 screen
mode. It creates /dev/fb0 when I do. I think it's working since I could
start the X server using startxdbfb
Whenever I start fbtv ( xawtv works under X/kde ) I get sound
but no picture. The monitor clicks like it's changing modes and
the powers the standby light comes on as if the video signal
was missing. I can change channels and quit the application.
I cannot get the screen back into a sane mode so I have to reboot.
I tried typing reset and 'fbset default' but neither will set the screen
mode. ( is there a command to do this? startx maybe? )
I've got an ati rage 3d video card and an ati wonder tv tuner card.
I set /etc/fb.modes to the output from
fbset -i
and there's only 1 mode not commented out in the file now.
Any suggestions? |

Sounds like it's trying to switch to a video mode it can't really handle or something. All I can think of is to look carefully through 'man fbtv', especially the '-s' option sounds like it'd eliminate the mode change, and '-m' might help if that was the problem. |

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I did try -m but with no results. |
