Sound works perfectly as root, doesn't work as user.

I seem to be in the correct group (audio) and the alsa devices seem to be set up correctly. What else could be going on here?
Edit: Solved. alsa seemed to be confused by snd (alsa support) being built into the kernel rather than as a module. Just building snd as a module probably would have fixed the problem, but I decided to get rid of the kernel support and go the alsa-drivers route. |
