Hi All,
I have been wrestling with this laptop and Gentoo for 2 weeks.
Does anyone have notes/websites/tips and tricks to help?
I have gotten gentoo to load with the 2.4.20 kernel but with the acpi patch cpu load=100%.
So I went to 2.4.19-r10, applied patch. But now I can't seem to emerge gnome, get the pcmcia working, the wifi, or pretty much anything working.
I really don't want to go to RH or Suse, but this beast is not nice with Linux.
BTW, I have gotten RH 9 with 2.4.19+acpi working just fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! _________________ jms

This is a typical problem with toshiba notebooks. It is a bug in the ACPI patches. Read more info here. It seems to be fixed in the newest patches (2.4.21pre, 2.5.69). The load is not just "cosmetic" it is a large performance hit. You will have significantly longer compile times. |
