Hi all,
I'm quite new to mail server. So I followed this guide --> http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/virt-mail-howto.xml
Everything works fine But I have a couple of questions
- As explain in the guide, I created 2 certificates, one for Postfix and one for courier-imap. However, I would like to use the same (self-signed) certificate for Postfix and courier-imap. Is this possible? And how?
- I did some testing and I'm able to access my account with IMAP through TLS (I specified TLS in Thunderbird) without having courier-imap-ssl started and with port 993 closed. Am I really using an encrypted connection? Does TLS use the same port (143) as IMAP? /etc/courier-imap/imapd-ssl seems to be only sourced by /etc/init.d/courier-imap-ssl. So in this case, if I do not start courier-imap-ssl, how does courier-imap find the certificate (which path is defined in imapd-ssl) and parameters about security?
Sorry, but it is the first time that I use courier-imap, sasl, postfix and all these mail software.
