|
|
I have the typical kernel panic thing going on where it doesn't recognize my root FS: "unable to mount root FS on unknown-block(0,0).
I'd like to mess with my kernel to try and fix it, but I don't know how to get into the kernel config from the live CD after I've already rebooted it after setting up grub - can someone help me with the commands for mounting everything properly and then editing and saving my kernel settings?
Thanks much in advance! |

boot the livecd and chroot.
That's pretty much it, then you're back in your computer.
to chroot, follow the steps in the liveCD, as in mount your root fs and all other fs you've got, mount /dev and /proc and run chroot /bin/bash and env-update && source /etc/profile. _________________ I'm too lazy to keep this stupid signature up to date, so here's something more interesting:

I followed the exact same steps for mounting proc and all of that. I am back in chroot - thanks so much for your speedy response, I just don't really understand the background to the steps and get easily confused, also don't want to break anything!
THANKS AGAIN! |

It's discouraging because I followed the gentoo hardware kernel config wiki to the T for my laptop and it still broke... Hopefully enabling a bunch more filesystems and chipsets will fix it so I can get this beast running! |
