Please be patient, this may take a moment...
There are no packages to emerge.

Beryl has moved to git, that script won't work. It's only there until I figure out how to do a git version.

Hi there, any news regarding the script? :)
Thank you for your hard work :P

Nesl247 is waiting until the Beryl/Compiz merge is figured out as it is likely things will be changing a lot.

So, until the merge is done, we will have to wait and see....

wtf is wrong with latest (624) xeffects overlay version? I can't emerge beryl as usual because there's so many ebuilds missing (i.e. beryl-plugins, beryl-settings...).

Nothing. It was removed from overlay (see changelog and the forums at http://firums.gentoo-xeffects.org).

If you want beryl, use 0.2.1 from portage.

Beryl and compiz are merged now, and as a result the new package is called compcomm. It's not quite ready for everyday use. So, unless you want to help test it out, use beryl from portage.

Too lazy to sign up for xeffects forums, but I'd just like to point out that when building compiz, autoconf fails if you don't have gconf already installed. Something along the lines of:

Code:
configure.ac:138: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_GCONF_SOURCE_2

Probably be a good idea to make it a dependency for now?

Too lazy to sign up, and report a problem in the venue that will get it corrected quickly for the benefit of the users? Come on... obviously not too lazy to 1) report and 2) get/setup the overlay...

http://trac.gentoo-xeffects.org for bug reporting and http://forums.gentoo-xeffects.org for posting about the overlay.

At 2am, signing up for yet another forum/bug tracker just isn't appealing. I'll get right on it now cap'n.

edit: already there, updated ticket 54.

hello,

i have a problem about beryl-dubs:

Code:

[ebuild     U ] x11-wm/beryl-core-0.2.1 [0.1.4]
[ebuild     U ] x11-plugins/beryl-plugins-0.2.1 [0.1.4]
[blocks B     ] x11-plugins/beryl-dbus (is blocking x11-plugins/beryl-plugins-0.2.1)

i tried unmerging beryl-dbus setting the flag in beryl-plugins, bue when i run beryl-manager i get an warning about dbus plugin missing..
anyway it seems to run, even if it is very slow (the fact that it is slow it shoule be a problem of ati drivers VS open source drivers)

I already set the use flag
Code:

x11-plugins/beryl-plugins dbus

do i have to used beryl version 0.2.1 or 0.1.4?

thanks a lot
Luigi

I know about it. I think it has to do with the new server only having up to subversion 1.1, not 1.4 which the old server had. So I'm contacting my host about upgrading from centos 4.5 to centos 5 because it has to be done via the cd (or else I'd do it).

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I had to move hosts, cheaper for me this way.

Update: Fixed

ok, i did, but know i get the warning a mentione before

Code:

libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
beryl: SmcOpenConnection failed: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
beryl: dbus_bus_get error: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
beryl: Plugin 'dbus':initDisplay failed
beryl: Couldn't activate plugin 'dbus'
Couldn't initialise dbus. This should not happen!

is this OK?

Now emerge 2.1. The problem was that the dbus plugin isn't separate in 2.1, so you have to remove the 1.4 version to install it.

@nesl247:

could you please update the compcomm / compiz-fusion ebuilds, if the new download locations are already public?

I get:

I modified tasbar-compiz for kde 3.5.7 so now we can change colors like with normal taskbar.
http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/taskbar-compiz+for+kde+3.5.7+with+colors?content=61169

Could this go in xeffects?
