|
|
Virtualbox is said to emulate about 20% faster than qemu(with kqemu) and also already supports Vista, however I'm not able to install either Vista or XP. Very early in the installation process of both vista and xp I get a black blank screen, after a while the whole virtualbox windows just disappears.
Here's a couple of steps howto get virtualbox up and running, if you try it please let me know if you're able to install either xp or vista.
Code: |
unmask app-emulation/virtualbox
emerge virtualbox
modprobe vboxdrv
chmod 666 /dev/vboxdrv
start the XPCOM Server: vboxsvc
start the "client": virtualbox

Instead of changing permissions on the vbox driver would it be more clean to add your user to the virtual box (can't remember what it's called but I know there is one) group? |

Yes there should be a group called vboxusers however it's not created with the current ebuild. |
