Hi,
Does anyone have a guide for getting either Beryl or Compiz to work with the proprietory ATI drivers? I've seen some of the guides on the wiki, and managed to infer things, but I'm not sure how much if FUD.
These things are (simple tick list!);
XGL won't work with FGLRX
Compiz won't work with AIGLX
Which leads me to believe the only way to do this is with AIGLX and Beryl. My card is too new (even though it's fairly old, Mobility 9700, bloody laptops) for the open source drivers to perform well, so I believe I'm locked in, but again FUD? Anyone got a clear solution for this, based on keeping fglrx, and a reliability assessment? |

use layman: layman -a xeffects
to get the xeffetcs overlay
then emerge XGL
then beryl
configs like on wiki, I have done this a half year ago, but should work. I use fglrx with a x700 card. |
