|
|
hi,
i have some trouble with my wireless laptop using a "Gigabyte WI01HT" wlan adapter.
At the university we use an unencrypted wlan with vpn.
I can successfully establish a connection with the following commands:
Code: |
iwconfig ath0 essid bonnet
ifconfig ath0 up
dhcpcd ath0
vpnc
|
This will work for a while, but i get randomly disconnected without any message...
I tried stopping the vpn and pinging the vpn-server, but since this does not work, i think the problem is with the wlan connection itself.
When i run iwconfig afterwards it shows "not-associated", but i don't know why this happens...
Code: |
iwconfig
ath0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"bonnet"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: not-associated
Bit Rate:54 Mb/s Tx-Power=16 dBm Sensitivity=0/3
Retry:off RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality=49/94 Signal level=-46 dBm Noise level=-95 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:154924 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

Can anybody help me with this? Or does anyone have similiar issues? Is it the madwifi driver or a problem with the ap?
I have everything related to WLAN/WEP compiled as a module.
thx for any help!
greetings,

If you look at the site of madwifi.org you'll find similar post like yours. They provide you with patches for it too.
As far as I can see it's indeed your wlan and not the vpn that's the problem. _________________ webmaster van www.koenderoo.nl |

Just go to the homepage of madwifi.org and type in the search-box on the top right of the screen: not-associated
And read the threads that come up _________________ webmaster van www.koenderoo.nl |
