|
|
I am unable to get my floppy drive to work on my C840 laptop. dmesg displays nothing regarding a floppy drive, and i have no /dev/fd1. This is a floppy that is hotswappable, meaning it is made to be taken out and replaced with a cd drive. The floppy drive is proven to work on the laptop under Windows XP and to use a startup disk. Also, a CD writer is detected and works perfectly in the same slot. Any ideas or anything I should check or try? This is my dmesg output:

You'll notice the date is off. I think my CMOS battery is going out. I don't think that has anything to do with the floppy drive issue though.
