I've had this problem for ages and since I'm sick at home I decided to try and work out what is causing this.

I've got custom udev rules to connect various removable media to specific device nodes and fstab entries for easy mounting and user access. I used to use the automounting feature of konqueror: simply navigate to storage media and click the device I want to access. However, these days "storage media" is usually empty. No devices in sight. If I refresh a few times or restart konqueror they eventually appear and I can access the devices. Sometimes, if I try to access the device before it is fully ready konqueror show me the empty folder and never lets me mount the device until the next restart.

This is not so much a problem rather than a minor inconveniance, but I was just wandering whether anyone knows why this is or knows a solution?

Being in plugdev doesn't help.

Also once I've mounted a drive with the automounting there is no nice way to unmount to drive. Konqueror just doesn't seem to keep up. I can righclick the icon and unmount it but as far a konqueror is koncerned (haha, get it?) I never unmounted it. According to mtab the device is not mounted. In the example of the cdrom drive I can only access a cdrom once. If I eject it and insert another I will never be able to see it because konqueror thinks the former cd is still mounted.

Does nobody else have this problem?
