I have many books which I wish to scan, I use only linux as a OS at home and school. I looked around for a cheap fast scanner which had some linux support, but I could not find any.
Has anyone here used a good scanner? |

I have an Epson Perfection 1640SU that I picked up on Ebay for $50 (new) and it is remarkable. The claim is that it can scan at 1600dpi. I think the reviews say that it only get 1200dpi, but that is more than enough for anything I do. Works perfectly in linux with sane. |

Check out Tesseract.
The site is new and Tesseract isn't in Portage yet. Here is the announcement by Google. |
