I admit this is probably a newbie problem, but I need some assistance and can't find it anywhere else. My computer uses a wireless connection through an old Linksys router that tends to fail for a second or two at random intervals. I use ndiswrapper and a Belkin wireless USB dongle to connect to it, and it works fine...until the router fails for a second. Windows is able to reconnect as soon as the connection comes back, but my Gentoo Linux installation seems incapable of regaining its connection after this happens.
I have tried to use /etc/init.d/net.wlan0 restart to regain the connection, but this doesn't work. It claims that it is connected, but I can't get out to the Internet. After my Linux computer is kicked off once, it is unable to connect again until it reboots, period. I have a feeling that I'm not doing something right--there must be another way to reset it besides using /etc/init.d/net.wlan0 restart, because this requires root priveleges and doesn't work anyway. What am I not doing? |

I don't use NDISwrapper myself, so I don't know, but usualy reloading the driver does the trick. In my case Code: | modprobe -r wifi_module;modprobe wifi_module | works |
