Hi!
I have some problems with my k3b, hope someone can help me with this.
After some hours of trying to get my CDRW work, especially under k3b, i finally found out, that cdrecord detects it correctly, but k3b not. Now, there is no problem to burn with cdrecord, but k3b just doesnt want to detect my CDRW. The device is shown as a reader and without vendor or description. i got k3b in the version 0.9_pre2.
This is, what cdrecord -scanbus dev=ATAPI returns:
Code: |
Cdrecord 2.01a14 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2003 Jörg Schilling

the problem is that you don't have scsi emulation set up in your kernel. do a search through the forums about that, and you'll find a load of info that's helpful.
the other option is to use ATAPI by default, which comes with the newest cdrecord which you have (look in your output from cdrecord -scanbus, it says ATAPI not scsi).
if you want to go through the hastle of getting scsi emulation to work, you'll be able to use k3b easily when you re-run the setup.
as for k3b and ATAPI, you could try out the newest k3b that you have in your portage directory. shoule be 0.9 or something like that. i read about it on this thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=56210&highlight=k3b+atapi
it seems that it might have support. i'm emerging it right now to see how it works, and i'll let you know...
