|
|
Hi, I own a Lexmark E210 laser printer and it works just fine in Windows. Finally I made the step and got rid of that MS stuff. Now I found that I cannot print on my printer from linux. I followed the howto https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-253147-highlight-e210+howto.html in this forum but it didnt work. When I use the driver provided with CUPS then the printer doesn't do anything. When I use the one from the Lexmark site, then it blinks briefly and stays quiet. Does anyone of you have any ideas?

Which Kernel-Version do you use? 2.6.17-gentoo-r7 maybe?
Here in the forum are many people with the same error message "device descriptor read/64, error -110". The only solution i find was to switch to a newer kernel. Please remove ehci_hcd and try if the printer works only with usb-1.1 support. |

I'm running nano 2.6.17-gentoo-r8 and no, it doesn't work either on 1.1.
I think I might just wait until 2.6.18 |

I think I might just wait until 2.6.18 | If you wish, you can have 2.6.18-gentoo-r1 now by appending "sys-kernel/gentoo-sources" to your /etc/portage/package.keywords.
It's been running here since Oct 16 without problems (don't have a Lexmark printer tho'). _________________ The avatar is jorma, a "duck" from "Elephants Dream": the film and all the production materials have been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License, see orange.blender.org for details. |

Okay, this is odd. I fixed the problem. In order to make this usb printer work you need to have parallel port support enabled in your kernel. I have absolutely no idea why that could be, but it works now. So this toppic is solved. |
