|
|
Hi, I've been trying to merge kiba-dock using xeffects overlay
and although I've entered "gnome-extra/kiba-dock -*" into my package.keywords
I still can't emerge it because the ebuild complains about missing keyword....
Searched the forums but didn't find a solution..

It would be helpful if you would paste exactly what you are doing and the output.
you probably wanted to have gnome-extra/kiba-dock ~x86 in package.keywords _________________ - Failure is not an option. It's bundled with your software. |

hi and thanks for the quick reply. The output:
Code: |
boaz boaz # emerge -av kiba-dock
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "kiba-dock" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- gnome-extra/kiba-dock-9999 (masked by: missing keyword)
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

and I have tried putting ~x86 also in package.keywords, still no good... (masked by missing keyword..) |

I have the same problem, although your situation seems to be slightly different. missing keyword needs an entry in package.keywords
Code: | gnome-extra/kiba-dock -* ~* |
But it still doesn't work. Anyway, even if it worked with portage, kiba-dock from xeffects hasn't worked under Gentoo for the past 6 months, I wouldn't put too much hope on it |

Makes me quite unhappy....
It's kind of wird it just doesn't matter if I put down the entry in package.keywords..
Any other suggestions? I would really like to use that app... |

** Keywords changed **
Published January 24th, 2007 in Overlay. 0 Comments
Portage 2.1.2 -r3/-r4 (which you must have, or the ebuilds wont build) introduced a new KEYWORD, **. Ebuilds now contain KEYWORDS=". Thus, all users who use any live ebuilds in xeffects,
or previously had to use -* need to update their package.keywords file to contain ** instead of -*.
from http://gentoo-xeffects.org/ so If you are going to use xeffects stay current with their site

wow thanks!
oops sorry, tried that, added ** to package.keyword, still no go:
Code: |
boaz boaz # emerge -av kiba-dock
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "kiba-dock" have been masked.

if you have Quote: | gnome-extra/kiba-dock ** | in /etc/portage/package.keywords and still get this problem the go to xeffects forum and post. _________________ - Failure is not an option. It's bundled with your software. |

sorry to ask a slightly off-topic question, but does kiba-dock now compile and work? Does it find all the required dependencies? Thanks. I'd like to give it a try sometime but wanna make sure that the past problems (there were many) have been solved. There was a time when kiba-dock was even pulled out of xeffects because it just wouldn't compile properly. |

ok, I've tried kiba-dock again, and I have to say that I'm very happy with it
It compiled fine, found all the dependencies, and it crashes very little. My biggest thanks to the xeffects team! |
