|
|
I am trying to configure X.org 7.1 on my Acer Aspire 1600 Laptop. There are some issues with the installation of the ati-drivers (drm module cannot be built), which is why I want to set up a 2D only X at first.
I emerged X with VIDEO_CARDS="radeon vesa" and INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse".
X won't start though. Everytime I try it says that the Vesa, kbd and mouse modules cannot be loaded because they do not exist.
Given that X is modular now, i suspect i was just unaware of some minor mistake i made, however in the Howtos i cannot find one.
So... can anyone help?

I've the same problem as you. My Radeon Xpress 200M doesn't have installed the drm module. If I find a solution I'll post it! _________________ El único caso en que P= NP es cuando N = 1. |

Turns out that I tried emerging ati-drivers before emerging Xorg, which meant Xorg got pulled in as a dependency. When the ati drivers failed to compile, the Xorg modules for vga, vesa, keyboard and mouse were not compiled either which is why i could not start X at all - with or without ati-drivers.
Now the Ati-drivers 8.32.5 and 8.33.6 do compile, however they do not work. I use the DRM Radeon drivers now. |
