Hi all
I face a wierd problem with xine-lib and ffmpeg.
On some mpeg and avi files (no problem with mp3 up until now) there is a wierd sound on videos with gxine-xine-kaffeine similar to this
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-537082.html

However, I managed to overcome the problem with the following combination
Code:
[ebuild   R   ] media-video/ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20060816 USE="a52 aac doc dts encode ieee1394 imlib mmx network ogg oss sdl theora threads truetype v4l vorbis xvid zlib (-altivec) -amr -debug -test -x264"
[ebuild   R   ] media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.3  USE="X a52 aac aalib alsa dts dvd fbcon imagemagick ipv6 nls opengl oss sdl theora v4l vorbis win32codecs xv xvmc (-altivec) -arts -debug -directfb -dxr3 -esd -flac -gnome -gtk -libcaca -mad -mmap -mng -modplug -pulseaudio -speex -truetype -vcd -vidix -xinerama"

But if I update ffmpeg to
0.4.9_p20061016 or
(~)0.4.9_p20070129
the sound problem appears :(
At the moment I masked the above releases

Yeah I got this too, seems that the mpeg sound decoding in xine-lib goes squiffy when you're playing video for some reason. Compiling xine-lib to use an external libmad library for mpeg seems to solve it, you can do this by adding "mad" to your USE flags.

James.
