gmplayer is the name of the executable to launch mplayer with a GUI. If you use KDE, kmplayer is a a good choice too. Just do an "emerge kmplayer" kmplayer is both a GUI and acts as a KPart so that you can watch videos inside KDE apps, like www.apple.com/trailers/ in Konqueror.

I actually like kplayer better than kmplayer. Now you have two programs to test :wink:

Use gmplayer instead of mplayer. Its nice, and it has theme support also. Check out the mplayer website for themes.

I hate to tell you this, but if you had done a quick search for: mplayer gui you would have found these threads:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=48826&highlight=mplayer+gui

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=51374&highlight=mplayer+gui

Since you already have it installed. Just make the changes recommended in either of these PREVIOUS threads and you'll be up and running mplayer with gui support.

Good luck.

Hello,

Go to your home directory and put in your .mplayer a config file with this line in it:
gui=yes

Then run mplayer and the gui-interface should pop up,... .

Kind regards,
