Hi,
I`using gnome, but, the keymap is wrong (not in the CLI).
I tried to start gnome-keyboard-properties, but I receive the following errors:
when starting gnome-keyboard-properties as user:

"Impossibile caricare l`icona per" mean "Unable to open icon for"
when launching gnome-keyboard-properties as root:

Well, I need gnome using an appropriate keymap!
I would like to know how to fix this problem (there should be a configuration file but I don`t remember which one is it) and how to make gnome-keyboard-properties working!

P.S.
I`ve yet tried to update x11-drivers/xf86-input-keyboard and x11-misc/xkeyboard-config (also by unmasking the latest version) but it didn`t work!

Well. since I'm using Xorg 7.2, it can start without an xorg.conf.
I created xorg.conf by following the procedure, edited etc. and now by using:

Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc102"

the keyboard is correctly working.
On the other hand, gnome-keyboard-properties is not yet working

Well,
I found out this is a bug related to my locale.
The bug and relative workaround can be found at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392450
But, I don't know how to change my "LANG/LC_* environment settings".
How may I change them?

But every time I reboot my system LC_ALL variable return to it_IT and not it_IT@euro.
Running env-update && source /etc/profile make LC_ALL to return to it_IT@euro. If I try to emerge some packages, it switch back to it_IT.
What to do next? |
