really low fps with ati-driver

ok well i have a ati radion x700 256MB AGPx8 video card with a amd athlon 64 3500+ processor and after installing the drivers i get around 1000 fps in glxgears

now i know this is very low my friend whos system is not much better then mine gets abour 9500 fps

im using ati-drivers-8.33.6-r1 with the 2.6.19-r5 kernel

i know the drivers work because the res automaticly changed to a higher res and i do get a lot faster fps then i did before they were installed

can somebody help me with this please

lsmod | grep fglrx
Is it have fglrx kernel modules ?

And, See the xorg.log . It have the message which flgrx output .
