not exactly sure how and when it happend, but i assume it was after i installed some new fonts with the kde font installer and changed all the default fonts to Swis721.
i've been trying everything i can think of to fix it, but nothing worked (reemerged freetype and fontconfig several times, fc-cache, etc., upgraded xfree, and finally i just wiped all my fonts from the hard disk and reemerged xfree, but still couldn't get that one font to show).
everything else is working just fine, only the helvetica font is gone, which means that most of kde's user manual is unreadable, there is just one thin horizontal line where text in helvetica should have been displayed.
i'm really lost as to what i could still try to get that font back.
does anyone have any ideas that might help? thanks a lot.
regards,
thomas. |

I had the same problem:
try out
cd /etc/init.d
./xfs start
or
./xfs restart |
