I have alsa working but when I boot the machine it complains about the following:

DMESG
Code:

snd_seq_oss: Unknown symbol snd_verbose_printk
snd_mixer_oss: Unknown symbol snd_verbose_printk
snd_seq_oss: Unknown symbol snd_verbose_printk

Anyone know what I need to configure in order for it to work?

It doesn't look like certain files are missing. I'd say your alsa driver needs to be rebuilt. The "Unknown symbol" messages mean the module was built with the core ALSA driver (snd.ko) that has "snd_verbose_printk", and now it's linking against a snd.ko that doesn't have those in it.

Are you using the in-kernel ALSA or the emerge alsa-drivers ?
