Hello
Here is my problem
My PC is running Gentoo, and we have at home a Canon laser LBP5000 printer linked to a PC under WinXP. The two PCs are linked by network .

This printer runs correctly under WinXP and also in network via a third PC under WinXP . I wanted also my PC to run this printer under Gentoo .

-Canon drivers (Canon CAPT printer driver 1.30 ) http://fr.software.canon-europe.com/software/0023675.asp?model=
There are Ubuntu Howto reported from linuxprinting.org which i did NOT follow :
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/imprimante_canon_lbp_2900
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsPrinters/CanonPrinters/Canon_LBP_2900
-CUPS has been configured, and the printer is present :
What I did is copy the files included in the tar.gz of the Canon driver , in the corresponding files (/usr and /etc ....)

In CUPS , the printers supported by this drivers do effectively appear during the printer configuration, so for me an indication they are correctly set . (Maybe I am wrong in my assertion here ----but how to control effectively that the driver is correctly installed ?)

The printer status seems correct, and the test page seems to be correctly sent to the printer (no error message coming back) , BUT
the printer does not start , nothing is printed and in the printer manager of the PC under Win, nothing to be printed appears ....

Her is the /var/log/cups/error.log
